Here is an introduction to the basics of financial statements, developed by Eddie Schwertz, instructor of BUSN 5000.

While it is not possible to answer all potential questions, an attempt has been made to provide you with the most commonly needed information.

The estimated time to complete the entire tutorial is 90 minutes, with additional time to complete the activities. You may complete the tutorial in one sitting or section-by-section. However, it is recommended that, the first time through, you participate in the modules in the sequence listed. After, you can revisit the information or activities as needed.

The Financial Statement Entry Matrix was created by Eddie Schwertz, BUSN 5000 online mentor for Webster University, to assist online students with the preparation of financial statements required for the Business Plan Term Project.

The Financial Statement Entry Matrix consists of four columns, which list financial statement items and where they appear on the three financial statements discussed in this module. The financial statement items are designated with a letter. These letters carry through to the samples and activities in this module. Print the matrix as a resource for this module and a guide for future financial statement projects.
