How to Start
1 Talk to your department or your campus director to see what expectations they have for you - Do you plan for in person, but have materials ready to upload into WorldClassRoom? Which modality is listed for your course? (See the list of Teaching Formats) If any part of your class will be in person, you still need to start thinking about all the things we mention here in case you have to make a sudden pivot to teaching exclusively in a remote manner.
2 Take a look at your syllabus and your course learning outcomes. Everything you do in your course should come back to the course learning outcomes. As you review your syllabus, look for activities that may no longer address the outcomes. Focus on activities where students can use their critical thinking skills and apply new knowledge to the assignments you present.
If you are interested, now might be the time to learn a bit about Backward Design. Backward Design is a process used to design learning experiences with a variety of instructional techniques to achieve specific learning goals.
