Tools to Support Student Success

We have many tools linked into WorldClassRoom to enable you to communicate with and assist students with their learning.

We have already mentioned Starfish – it is used to communicate with students and their advisors if you wish to flag issues related to attendance or participation. You will be asked to complete a short survey about your students early in the term so that students can get the support they need.

In addition, the university provides access to NetTutor for quite a few classes. This is an external tutoring venue that can help students with trouble spots in their courses.

Turnitin is another external tool that is included in written assignments. While it must be manually enabled by the instructor, it can provide a wealth of information about the originality of a student's work. Instructors do not have to set up their own accounts as they are provided by the university. Turnitin will check for originality in students' writing and provide a report for you and the students to review.
