Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a way to tell when students are online in my WCR class?
Manually, you could look at the People tab and the "Last Activity" column for a general idea.
We have turned on the Chat feature in WorldClassRoom, which would let an instructor AND students know who was online in that class. However, the "Who's Online" part is limited to who is in the chat feature in the course, not just within the class at the same time.
Options for interacting with a student privately, on the spot:
-
- Create an assignment where they can submit private questions to you then you can use the comments feature in SpeedGrader to hold a text based one-on-one discussion. Students can resubmit as many times as needed.
- If you set up your Notifications, the submission of a student comment or document would trigger a notification to the location of your choice so you wouldn't need to be in the course all day.
- Use the Conferences tool to set up a one-on-one meeting with a student.

How do I add audio to my PowerPoint presentation?
Every instructor and student have access to Office 365 which also includes access to PowerPoint. Use the following directions for recording audio on your PowerPoint.
Can I still get in touch with the Library even though they are closed?
Previously scheduled research instruction sessions can easily be moved online. Just invite your liaison librarian to the synchronous online class meeting. If you have been meaning to get around to scheduling a section, please reach out to us! We can tailor lessons to your assignment, and/or record a lesson for asynchronous viewing.
