Approach and Pedagogical Methodology:
We use real-world simulations and experiential activities in this program to bring alive course content to help students engage and apply this learning in their positions.
We assess student knowledge, skills and abilities as a manager and leader, individually and provide students with a personalized development plan to match their strengths and challenges to help them succeed in their chosen career pathways.
The Management and Leadership Program focuses on the leadership and strategic thinking skills needed to identify innovative opportunities and make correct strategic decisions.
We believe that strategic thinking is a teachable and learnable skill.
Strategic Management teaches students the art of strategic thinking with roots in Sun Tzu, and how a leader should 'choose one's battles'.
Strategic thinking involves knowing when to attack, defend, retreat or avoid relative to any defined 'battle'.
The Attack-Defend-Retreat-Avoid framework of 'strategy' provides a model for decision-makers to understand how best of allocate resources, movement and countermovement, for the greatest return.
The goal here is to eliminate the guesswork and reliance on 'hope this is the right decision', which is not a good strategy.
We teach critical thinking skills and how to apply them in a competitive environment to directly improve decision-making skills.
