Course Learning Objectives
This revised MNGT 5650 is a new approach to teaching strategy and will differ from how you may have taught strategy previously. In particular, the new course focuses specifically on strategic thinking and decision-making regarding resource movement. This course is built around the Attack-Defend-Retreat-Avoid framework and the "Choose your battles" metaphor of strategy. Students find this teaching pedagogy compelling as it combines traditional strategic management content (e.g. industry analysis, company analysis), with a strategic thinking and resource movement and counter-movement based on where the company is relatively strong or relatively weak. The "battle choice" metaphor provides the teaching narrative, and the framework provides the theory and guidance to teach our students to thinking strategically in competitive situations. The following are the new Course Learning Objectives which provide the primary topics to be covered in your course lecture.
Course Learning Objectives:
1. Understand ADR framework (attack, defend, retreat, avoid) of strategy and strategic thinking. 2. Understand classic concepts, principles, and theories in the area of Strategic Management and how reinforce ADR framework. |
