Food and Dining: Restaurants

Missouri, Texas and South Carolina are all melting pots of some of the greatest cuisines throughout the United States! All three of the campuses have a wide array of restaurants within a short distance from campus. A great way to locate restaurants is to use the Yelp app available on your smartphone.

Yelp allows you to search in a specified area, for example, the zip code of either your campus or your residence. Restaurants are reviewed by local diners, and you can read those reviews to see if you are interested in dining there.

If you don't wish to go to a restaurant, you can use apps such as Uber Eats and GrubHub to order food to be delivered directly to your residence or other location. Like ride sharing apps, you will need a credit or debit card to enter into the app for payment, cash is not accepted.

Food and Dining: Groceries

There are many grocery stores near the campuses. In addition to general grocery stores, there are also specialized international grocery stores, and often large department stores (such as WalMart and Target) include extensive grocery offerings along with offerings of housewares, linens, clothing, personal care, and other items. Below you will find a selection of grocery options. In St. Louis, the main grocery store chains are "Schnucks" and "Dierbergs", while in San Antonio, the main chain is "H.E.B." You will also find national chains in both locations, such as Aldi. In South Carolina, major chains include "Kroger" and "Food Lion."

Shopping Trips

Available in St. Louis only.

We understand that it is sometimes difficult to get around town when you do not have transportation. The International Student Affairs office in St. Louis will provide limited transportation to international students through scheduled shopping trips. Trips are scheduled to serve groups of students who are available at a mutually convenient time. More information about this service will be available after you arrive.
