Students understand how a business is driven by its interconnected internal functions. Advanced (3): Student meaningfully synthesizes the connections between a firm’s functional areas, demonstrating a clear understanding of how the different areas work together and inform each others’ work.  Proficient (2): Student states connections between a firm’s functional areas, but lacks meaningful discussion. Demonstrates a basic understanding of how the different areas work together and inform each others’ work.  Basic (1): Student fails to recognize connections between a firm’s functional areas, treating them as independent pieces within a firm.

Students can articulate how a business impacts its stakeholders. Advanced (3): Student meaningfully synthesizes the link between a business’s strategy/actions and impacts on all relevant stakeholders. Can identify conflicts of interest arising from the corporate form of organization.  Proficient (2): Student states and discusses the link between a business’s strategy/actions and impacts on all relevant stakeholders, although the discussion is superficial.  Basic (1): Student states a business’s impact on stakeholders, but does not make the link between a firm’s strategy/actions and those impacts.
