Training for Teaching Remotely
Welcome to Essential Training for Teaching Virtually
This content page outlines the "Essential Training" for remote teaching. It is a jump off page to all that you need to learn for virtual teaching and learning or you can go to the modules link to the left to see all of the pages in this entire Teaching Resource Center.
Depending on your district, or school, you may be asked to complete some or all of these components. We invite you to check with your district, or school if you have questions about which parts you are required to complete. We at Webster have named our Canvas classroom area as the WorldClassroom. Some of the pages, webinars and text on the pages will refer to the WorldClassroom often; do not get confused they are still talking about Canvas courses.
As you might be aware, Canvas works in a very lineal manner. Once you get to a page, you just keep clicking the 'Next' button to read all of the pages in a row. Feel free to follow the structure outlined below or click on Modules (here or in the Course Navigation) to see the list of modules and pages.
Training Components
This "Essential Training" includes three modules, all of which you can access here in the Knowledge Center. There are Knowledge Checks along the way that allow you to self-assess your learning, and which we'll use to track your participation in these modules.
1. WorldClassRoom Overview
This module provides an introduction to using the tools of WorldClassRoom/Canvas, including how to organize your course, how to use the Gradebook, and how to create Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes. It ends with a Knowledge Check where you will self-assess your skills, and which we'll use to track completion of this module.

There are three parts to this module and each concludes with a with a Knowledge Check where you will self-assess your skills. Once again, we'll use these Knowledge Checks to track completion of this module.
By the end of this module, you'll be able to:

On the next page, you will find an outline of the teaching modalities that will be in place this Fall and each includes a list of tools with which you should become familiar. All of those tools are covered in the three modules described above.
